Philip D. Lorio IV
Attorney
Philip D. Lorio IV, or “Phil” as he prefers, is a litigation attorney specializing in personal injury and hurricane-related cases, representing individuals against insurance companies and other large corporations. As a partner at the Chopin Law Firm, Phil leverages extensive experience gained from his previous positions at two prominent insurance defense firms in the New Orleans area. Phil is a proud graduate of Loyola New Orleans College of Law, and he maintains strong ties with the institution as a member of the Law Alumni Board and an executive board member of the St. Thomas More Loyola Inn of Court. Before going to law school, Phil attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee where he obtained his undergraduate degree. Today, Phil is a member of the New Orleans Bar Association, Louisiana Association for Justice, American Association for Justice, Academy of New Orleans Trial Lawyers, and he currently serves on the Louisiana Bar Association’s House of Delegates. Phil is licensed in all Louisiana Federal and State Courts, and he is also licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.
Beyond the courtroom, Phil contributes to the legal community through teaching continuing legal education programs. Notably, Phil presented seminars for the New Orleans Bar Association on first-party hurricane claims, sharing expertise with fellow legal professionals, focusing on the extensive litigation arising in the wake of Hurricanes Laura, Delta and Ida. Additionally, Phil has presented a program focused on ethics, inspired by the legacy of his mother, Kathryn Venturatos Lorio – past dean and professor of Loyola Law School – as a model of legal professionalism and ethics on the Greek Island of Spetses.
Phil is a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, where he was baptized as an infant and raised into adulthood. As a teenager, he was proud to serve as the President of the Greek Orthodox Youth of America for the New Orleans Chapter, and he was a Hellenic dancer for the Greek Festival.
